Asymptomatic people exist. But most DO show symptoms, they just don’t last as long as typical (10-14 days), they last 1-2 days. Masks are not the answer, and not wearing one doesn’t make you any less American than someone who does. That notion is absolutely absurd. Masks are mostly, I said mostly, not entirely, for others. If you have it, it is a partial way to stop spreading it, but then again a person with covid touching things, is spreading it and when someone else touches it with bare skin without sanitizing the surface first, they can get it, If you are tested regularly and know you do not have covid, the mask is not stopping what you dont have from spreading and masks really do not stop you from getting it, so maks are for people who do not know their status or who have it, not being close to another person and not touching surfaces with out disinfecting them first is the key to not getting it. The mask doesn’t help the wearer unless it’s an N95. That’s why everyone should wear them. If I have a mask on I protect you should I be asymptomatic. And I agree people must stay home if sick. But a lot of people are asymptomatic and have no idea they have the virus and could potentially kill someone else. Hence why masks are needed! You know people died in a car crash while wearing seat belts, so why wear them? Or why can women get pregnant even if they’re on birth control, so why use it? Because they minimise the risk, they don’t work 100%, but they help Stephanie, glad you could take the time out and join the conversation. As I stated before this isn’t a matter of opinion. An opinion is “I like the color blue” or “Hamilton is amazing”. The effectiveness of masks is something that can and has been tested and proven to be beneficial to society. You can’t have an opinion on a scientific statement. Cristi Peterson well….being an American can mean several things. Helping save other Americans in the event you are sick & don’t know it for a 30 run for groceries right now in this moment in this time …..is BEING A GREAT AMERICAN. A great person. A responsible person…..call it what you like. 30 minutes!!! You’ll live through it but might not live thru covid19. THINK ABOUT IT before you puff up & get mad about a stupid uncomfortable mask for groceries. I hate them….but for the sake of others & my family I will sacrifice a few minutes of discomfort. Because I choose too….not because I was told to. I’m old enough not to have to be told to. 66 yrs old. Stay well… It’s the least we can do. Don’t you agree. We can’t stay home every second of every day. We have to get out a few hours a week for necessities.
