Its seems that only russian tourist is common there, thats why I am very sorry about local people, who are depended on the summer season, cause due to sanctions they lost their potential clients. He has every legal right to do as he wants with his money. But we have every right to approve or disapprove of him based on those choices. Indeed this is often a good thing. Sure, bill gates would probably fight malaria either way but it’s a good thing that other billionaires see that spending your money and effort making the world a better place earns you respect and admiration.
Money is only one currency. Respect and status are probably equally important and we allocate those by talking about the choices others make and deciding if we wish to praise or blame them for it. The net result is good for everyone: billionaires realize they can trade money for respect by donating it to those in need and so many do exactly that and we all win. So yah the gov has no business telling bezos what he must do with his money but the rest of us have every business deciding what we think of him based on his choices. People should be more pissed about an entity which acquires Trillions each year from people under threat of force. This entity then spends more money than it collects via force and borrows even more to spend, expecting the people to be responsible. Pissed about a guy who came up with an idea to better facilitate free exchange among people…..naw. Not me.
