Unfortunately hospital staff doesn’t have a choice whether to treat those fools or not.Too bad they aren’t made to sign statement saying they will not receive treatment if by their running around, possibly infecting others etc.and they become infected. I really do not understand this. This whole picture kind of illustrates the total shit show that is happening in our country right now. Nurses working the front lines of COVID, seeing the agony…and then standing in front of cars, with unmasked people protesting against…the prevention of inevitable agony. Blocking the path to a hospital. In the name of freedom. WHAT? WOW! Really? Nurses and doctors took an oath to help others. So Drunk Drivers do not get the help they need when they do something totally preventable? No they dont. I can see both sides of this coin. If you are afraid, DO NOT GO OUT. That is pretty easy. That is what I plan to do. I think the irony of a 10 year old understanding better than adults is funny. 2nd I doubt her sweet daughter is suggesting out of hatefulness. Have you not seen her sweetness? 3rd Nurses etc. always give their best despite the circumstances. I don’t think other people have the ‘freedom’ to make a decision to expose themselves, and then have my family member be REQUIRED to help them, putting my whole family at risk. My personal opinion. I have been a OR nurse a very long time .. of course we treat all our patients regardless of what lead them to be our patients.. whether they be drunk drivers who kill / injure others .. the gunmen who shoot at police .. its our job ..these protests are disgusting.. in one area they totally blocked the roads to hospitals… Well, she’s ten. She didn’t say they shouldn’t, but we do raise kids under the philosophy of natural and logical consequences. She’s exactly right when it comes to that, though we also talk a good bit about not holding a grudge and forgiveness.
