My husband and I have been to Europe with your company once, nearly two years ago. Knowing what I’ve learned about you as a human being since then I would never travel with another group. Yes, the trip was fantastic but the person you are is our deciding factor. Thank you for being you. Life and travel are gifts to be shared. How we go about living together is culturally determined but shouldn’t just be set by or for the dominant culture. It’s the prioritization which can be political. Thank you Rick. Traveling the world for the past 8 years, living as an ex pat for months at a time in several countries outside of the US has shown me there are many other places I can chose to live happily, heathy and much more cheaply without the political drama and decisiveness that now plagues the USA. I even tell some folks when they ask where I’m from that I’m Canadian as declaring you’re from the US means you either get a tirade against or pity for living in ‘Trump World.’ Rick is so right – travel opens your eyes and your mind if you let it! And there is nothing more politically-challenging than an open mind! I agree, travel is an eye-opening, transformational experience. It has been for me, and I wish everyone (who wants to) could experience it. Unfortunately, not everyone has the time, ability, resources – all forms of privilege – to travel. It’s not fair that mostly people with privilege get to have their minds expanded by travel. How can we use and share our privilege to let other people have a chance to experience the world? (Once we get to a point where travel is possible again.) I’ve been ‘on the road’ traveling now for 4 years, and am so grateful for your ebooks, bc not knowing my next destination, I can carry them all with me. In every country I am asked for tips and advice, and I always recommend your books and audioguides and podcasts. ‘Rick Steves has yet to steer me wrong’.
