I fall more and more in love with my husband every day. We are intentional about our marriage. We kiss every day, we hold hands not only in public but just sitting next to each other on the couch. We work at keeping our marriage strong and 22 years this October it has worked for us Almost 15 years married and 16 almost 17 together. Its not easy we have a disabled child and its hard to go out. However the Lord is in it and we will stay till death do us part. I used to play Cribbage at lunch with some people at work. I used to bring homemade lunches in and eat them while we played. The guys at the table were like “Oh, sure, your Wife makes you food now and packs it all nice. We’ll see how long that lasts. We’ll know when the Honeymoon is over.”
Well, I worked at Avaya for over 30 years and still brought in homemade lunches until I retired in 2018, and with this October coming up being 27 years of Marriage I can say that absolutely nobody could have been a better Wife for me than Monica has been. One of our Kids is now Married and one is Engaged and both tell us that the example we gave them will carry them through their Marriages as well.
We have been truly Blessed. And we are both Christians, and I agree, having that foundation is the best building blocks you can have in a Marriage.
Also, it’s a small thing, but I always capitalize Married, Marriage, Wife, Husband, and Family when I type. Kind of a way of respecting all that those terms represent.
And Sarah, if I ever got to talk to you, I would be one of the ones who would not respond with Negativity at all. Marriage is a Wonderful Blessing. Thank you for writing this.
