Same going on here in central NC. ConeHealth owns everything. Since there is no deal in place beginning Jan 1, we will be up sh*t’s creek if our health goes south. Not happy. Adrian, please note the second grammatical error as well: “taxpayer’s money” should be “taxpayers’ money,” since we are surely speaking of more than one taxpayer. Even an asshole should know correct grammar! I don’t know you and I don’t live in North Carolina but from one educated debutante to another, keep going girl. Don’t be afraid to rile them up. Your outrage is right on. And don’t get me started on the grammar errors. My soon to be first time teacher daughter attended a “Benefits Meeting” today in Charlotte. She did not understand a word, was very confused and came home with a stack of paperwork so she could “choose” what plan she wants. Disgusted. I’d like more information on the numbers. Does anyone know where to find it? For example how many state employees there are versus university employees? My sister and her husband work UNC and they paid zero for their healthcare. Zero out-of-pocket- it is all reimbursed to them because he is a hospital employee. Are they counting that? I am a state employee and our health benefits have gotten worse every year. It is by no means free nor inexpensive healthcare. Covering one child costs the same as covering five. Covering a family takes up an enormous chunk of a paycheck. Are the proposed changes different if you are a state employee versus a teacher? Yes I know we are all state employees. My husband is also a UNC healthcare employee and I can assure you, we pay ALOT for coverage! And we have had surgeries for our special needs son, and I can assure you once more, it wasn’t free! We pay 20% out of pocket… Well my husband is not a nurse although he is an RN and he is a Director of numerous outpatient clinics. I highly doubt it has anything to do with position… just my thought. He is highly well-paid!
