If you cut their funding how can they do their job you all want the police to more but the liberal politicians want the defund the police so how can they get more training they need. of course and based upon the evidence usually collected by the police who often do not do a very good job with sexual assault. I’ve spent 28 years working with victims and have been involved in hundreds of investigations. Training is so desperately needed for investigators so that prosecutions of offenders against children are prosecuted. I think the wording of the intensions is a mistake and I think each community needs to assess what they truly need. Where I live in Iowa a local police department in a city of 40,000 people has 2 military type tanks?? For what? These kinds of expenses and training for these kinds of things are things people want to change and allocate that money to better ways to help the police and the community meet their needs rather than stocking up on military type gear etc. I don’t personally think we need fewer police. I think we need to make the profession more professional so we get and can expect more. It’s a crappy job, crappy pay and huge responsibility. I’m not sure why you think it’s funny that I said police need training in investigating sexual assault especially with regard to child victims?? Very few cases EVER get prosecuted, let alone convicted because of poor investigations and lack of training detectives in child sexual abuse. they called their homeless camp full of drug addicts an up and coming neighborhood. Criminals and thugs will kill you in a second for what they won’t work for and you won’t call the police because the police might kill the suspects.
