We stress the importance of education and I agree it is important however being taught life skills might be very helpful as well especially during these very difficult times… Thank you Grandmother and Great-Grandmother for starting me out at age 8 learning to prep and can fruit and vegetables. God love you in Heaven-Amen. We didn’t have much growing up my father left my mother she did the best she could now I realize my mom was right about everything I miss her much she thought us to be strong threw it all we appreciate what we have today. Reminds me of my full Cherokee granny dowdy, she made a man of me. Proud but humble a hard worker all her life and she tore my butt up most of my time with her on the farm. Miss them days, anyway love you granny. So proud of my Grandmother she raised 5 children and always had a huge garden she would put up all the veg. and fruit to get them through the bad times while my grandpa worked even after he retired. Proud to say she was my grandmother. Love and Miss You both Grandpa and Granpa Selvage.I know you are both in a better place.. We didn’t grow up feeling entitled..I was very grateful for everything that my parents did for me..they didn’t have it easy growing up..I respected them..always wanted them to be proud of me. We lived in Collie WA my dad and mum always had a big vegetable and flower gardens, always loved dad’s fresh potatoes out of the ground, delicious. My grandparents always had fresh vegetables of grandads allotment, you could have stocked a small florist with his beautiful flowers & they always had rhubarb when it was the right time of year from a big patch grown in the back garden…
