Allan Little .. it wasn’t just about the Addison’s test.. he doesn’t have it, it was the fact it was me who googled his symptoms and requested it ( cost over £200) .. and it is not hard to diagnose.. blood is taken, something is added ( I think a type of cortisol) they wait, they retest blood and it’s a yes/ no answer..
and he has been referred since then, they are amazing, and they agreed that if I’d not requested it, they would have done it, as they’ve done other tests , to eliminate various conditions. it’s linked to it ..,I know vets are under pressure right now,. everyone is, and having a poorly dog in lockdown is horrendous.. my issue is that Bertie’s issues should have been picked up sooner .
Even worse.. there is NOTHING in place for grieving owners… I witnessed the saddest situation the other day..
two ladies ( prob mother and daughter) were ahead of me at the reception area, the younger one was carrying a little terrier.. they had to discuss all the issues out in public.. v v sad, vet took dog into room, came back, and again in public had to explain that at 16 , it did not look good, ( kidney failure, heart murmur, all sorts) ..so decision was kindest to PTS.. so poor ladies were given no privacy by some of the younger people waiting .. and then only one was allowed to go in the room with the little dog to say goodbye … the rooms are big enough, that the two women could have gone in to say goodbye and to comfort each other .. the vet had a mask, and surely ladies could have been given a mask … I left before they had to make the choice between them, .. just felt so sorry for them ..so it’s not just vets suffering in lockdown.
