Did anybody really think most teenagers away from home for the first time would behave responsibly? Of course not!The UNC system knowingly allowed this to happen and now will reap the national publicity and deservedly so. This is no reflection on Roy Cooper who has done his best to protect this state. It certainly will trickle down to most schools. The UNC system is one of the largest in the country and I would have hoped that it could have set a better precedent. I am not usually this belligerent but I feel that we have lost any progress gained in the last months! hindsight is 20/20…..isn’t it? I find it so hard to judge in this situation. It is so far beyond what any of us have ever experienced. I am sure they thought they did their due diligence and made decisions based on that. what happened in the nursing homes was nothing but tragic. I completely agree. I cannot dispute that. But shutting NY down…..as uncomfortable as it was for many of us is what got us where we are today…..our infection rate is less than 1%. UNC certainly knew these “kids” were going to break all social guidelines and do things their way……and, Governor Cooper, has done an exemplary job ,as our Governor, in trying to get us through this “mess”!!! The major obstacle being people who were fighting his sound decisions!!! Guess we expected immature behavior from the youth, but expected better behavior from our fellow “adults”. I was there with you…….but, our behavior didn’t contribute to life or death situations or influencing the health of our relatives and friends. If what is happening now, was happening then, it would have scared me very much!!!! Guess growing up then made the difference.
